Margaret Andrea (Tasonyi) Reistetter, age 93, died peacefully on Wednesday June 29 2016, in Albany, NY surrounded by 4 generations of family by her side. She is survived by her five children, George A. Reistetter and his wife Denise, Monrovia, California; Michael A. Reistetter, Endicott, NY; Agnes Reistetter, Sun Valley, NM; Andrea Harris of Newport News, VA, and Francine Reistetter of Albany, NY She was born in Jessup, PA the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Baron) Tasonyi. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, George C. Reistetter, brothers John and Bill Tasonyi, sisters Mary Liberatore and Betty Reistetter. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Margaret retired after many years as a group leader working for GAF and later Anitec. After retirement, Margaret kept busy working as a personal care aid via office for the aging and working for the local election board. She was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Church, served as a eucharistic minister bringing communion to those homebound or in nursing homes. She was a member of the altar rosary society, and a member of the secular Franciscan's. She was a long time member of the first ward senior citizens center choir, singing in their spring and holiday concerts. Margaret loved to garden, and she loved to cook and bake. She was most famous for her baking, especially Christmas cookies, and kolachki. At the holidays, her kitchen had the smell of raised sweet dough and melted butter as she baked paska and buchta; nut and poppyseed rolls for Easter and Christmas. The family would like to thank Iva Darlington, Mom's home health aid for her kind and compassionate care. Cyril and Methodius Church, Clinton Street, Binghamton Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
