Obituary of Frank Sacco

Frank A. Sacco (Papa) of Binghamton passed away after an extended illness with his family at his side. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Josephine; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grace and Winifred Green; his sister, Antoinette Santadonato; and his brother, Anthony Sacco. Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Joan; his sons, Joseph F. (Mary) Sacco, Mark A. (Lisa) Sacco; his daughter, Debbie Sacco. His most prized treasures were his grandchildren, Joseph G. Sacco (Victoria Cole), Jena Sacco (Kyle Smyder), Laura Sacco and Claudia Sacco. Frank and Joan were both fortunate to come from and marry into large families. Frank is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Philomena Consol, Michael Sacco, Severino (Ann Marie) Sacco, Orlando (Caroline) Sacco, Rosily (Russ) Hawkes, Mario (Laura) Sacco; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly (Jim) Malane, Barb (Milo) Brunick, and Ron Green; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Frank was blessed with seven Godchildren, Michael Malane, Matt Sacco (predeceased), Dr. Andrew Sacco, Lisa Sacco, Demyan, Paul Novelli Stanton, Jeanette Fish, Clarence Shager (predeceased). He was a graduate of Binghamton North High School, after which he went into the bakery business with his siblings. He then worked for NCR Corp. for 16 years prior to creating the Acme Cash Register Company. Frank developed the business with his wife and children; now his grandson is entering the 38 years old legacy. Frank always found and made time to be a mentor, coach, player and sponsor to the "East Side Gang" through many years of football and baseball. Papa rarely missed one of his grandchildren's events. He was dubbed "one of the greatest spectators". Frank also enjoyed his community and social activities. Volunteering and serving as past President of the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier, having fun with the Italian "Lunch Bunch" and keeping close tabs on the NY Giants, Yankees, and Knicks. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, Binghamton, Friday at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Frank may be made to Joseph Griffin Scholarship Fund, Kirkwood Town Hall, Kirkwood, NY 13795 or Lee Barta Scholarship Fund c/o UEHS, 1100 E.
