She then started her career as a landlord which she did with great joy and success right up till the very end, Madeline even moved an entire 5 family apartment building and in her final hours wanted to be sure some tenants were getting back their security deposits. She loved to garden and shop, and has a house full of things found at garage sales, many items she did not need, but bought them anyway because they were cheap!
