Obituary of David E. Hessian

Hessian, David E. Vestal: David E. Hessian, 63, of Vestal, passed away peacefully at home July 1st where he received the comfort of friends and family. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Sara and John Hessian, as well as his loving mother-in-law, June K. Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Hessian; his two sons, Scott and Keith Hessian; his sisters, Sara Fedoris and Joan Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Joanna Campbell; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friends, Ed Slimowicz and Peggy Wescott. A 1968 graduate of Vestal High School, Dave attended college in the Midwest before beginning employment with IBM Endicott where he worked his way up from an electrical test technician to that of Senior Designer within IBM's cables and connectors division. Over the course of his career he earned several patents. He retired as a Senior Designer from Lockheed Martin in 2006. He was a member of The United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton where he had served as a Deacon and youth fellowship advisor. Dave enjoyed boating, fishing, geocaching, and skiing. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family on camping and boating trips. He also served as an assistant scout master in Troop 221 while his sons were active boy scouts. Dave was a talented carpenter and handyman and was always willing to use his abilities to help out friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6th, at 1:00 p.m. at The United Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango St., Binghamton. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 5th, from 4 - 7 p.m. at J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton. The family would like to thank the medical staff of Lourdes Hospital ICU and PCU for the care and compassion they provided Dave and his loved ones during his extended hospitalization. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation: 115 Broadway, Suite 1301, New York, NY 10006 ( www.lymphoma.org) to help fund research to minimize the long term side effects resulting from the treatment of Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
