Sally Ann Smith
Smith, Sally Ann 4/20/1954 - 5/25/2012 Sally Ann Smith, 58, passed peacefully on Sunday morning, May 25, 2012, at Broome Developmental Center. Sally has completed her final wish of reuniting with her mother and father. She was born to Elmer and Ethel Smith on April 20, 1954 in Endicott, NY. Sally loved people and always made you feel good to be with her. She had many friends and relatives who shared the joys of her life. Sally was a life member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Endicott. Sally retired on October 28, 2008 from Country Valley Industries, Johnson City, NY, after working there for 33 years. She was a Special Olympian for many years, participating in many events. She especially loved bowling. Sally was a member of Talking Hands, a group of special performers who use sign language to sing songs. Sally is survived by her brothers, Gerald (Nancy) Smith of Johnson City, TN, Russell (Sharon) Smith of Endwell, Douglas Smith of Lakewood, CO; her nephews, Shane C. Wolfsmith (Heather) of Portland, OR, Justin T. Smith (Holly) of Barto, PA, Todd D. Smith (Melanie) of Memphis, TN; niece, Lisa Curley; a very special aunt, Jean Smith of Endicott; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone who touched Sally's life for all the love and friendship you gave her. We would especially like to thank all the very giving staff on Unit 5C, who provided dedicated and loving care to Sally for so many years. A special thank you to Laura. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 6 p.m. Deacon Edward Blaine will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Thursday from 4 p.m. until service time at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Sally may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
