Please share a memory of Rena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rena Lou Snyder Snyder, Rena Lou Rena Lou Snyder (nee Rossier), 82, formerly of Binghamton and Port Crane, NY, passed away peacefully in the grace of God at her home in Cary, NC with adoring family at her side. Rena was born on July 18th, 1929 in Binghamton, the daughter of the late Louis F. and Rena (Jones) Rossier. A graduate of North High Class of '47, Rena attended Binghamton General's Nursing College and obtained her RN license in 1950. Her career lasted until she met and married her devoted husband and best friend, William J. Snyder, who preceded her in death in 1992. Over their 30 plus years of loving marriage, the couple together raised 10 children. Throughout her life, Rena was a pleasure to anyone who knew her. Her personality was always a unique combination of mischief and joy, laughter and warmth, wisdom and caring. A devout Catholic, Rena was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle church in Apex, NC and a former member of Saint Rita's church in Chenango Forks, NY. Rena enjoyed the crowds and excitement of the many casinos she donated to, as well as the calming solitude she found walking the shoreline of Atlantic Beach. Rena was a skilled and passionate board game and card player who, regardless of how much she loved you, would take unrestrained pleasure in "creaming" all comers... her grandchildren were affectionately included. Rena had an unmistakable charm when it came to children and babies who sensed her caring and relished in the comfort of her embrace. Her love for her friends, family and especially her grandchildren was sincere and special. She will be so dearly missed. Rena was preceded by her husband, William (Bill) Snyder; her son, Christopher Jay Snyder; grandsons, Chris and Cory; her sisters, Loraine Potack, Lenore Babcock, Jane Dailey, and Joan Roe. Her heartbroken survivors include her sister, Nancy Rychlewski; her children, Terry (Jana) Snyder, Kitty Klietz, Sandra Snyder, Jeff (Lori) Snyder, Michael Snyder, Cheryl (Mike) Anthony, Rebecca Howe, Martin (Kim) Snyder, Denis (Ellen) Snyder; her adored grandchildren, Candida, Clarisse, Meagan, Nicole, Kari, Joey, David, Denis Mark, Britney, Samantha, Courtney, Zachery, Nicholas, Austin, Ashley, Amanda, Emma and William. Rena also leaves 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she held a special bond with. Finally, Rena leaves behind her dear and lifelong friends, Matthew and Kaye Higgins; and her best friend and cousin, Janice Nash. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made in Rena's name to the Hospice Foundation of Wake County, whose care and kindness were so very much appreciated. Visitation Services will be held and memories shared on May 18th, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McCormack Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, NY. Funeral Service will be held the following morning at 10 a.m. in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Johnson City, NY.the very same church Rena and Bill were married in almost 60 years ago.
