Obituary of Florence Z. Ewanow

Florence Zverblis Ewanow | Visit Guest Book Ewanow, Florence Zverblis Having overcome many health crises during her life, Florence's 9 lives were complete on Friday, December 23, 2011. She was 86 years old. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Walter; daughters, Lynn, Jan, Lisa; and son, Ted; her sons-in-law, Lorn Clement and Annon Kishpaugh; grandsons, Corey, Alex and Ryan; step grandchildren, David Spring, Melissa Spring and her fianc Scott Brazen; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Florence was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and Keuka College where she obtained her BS in Nursing. She cared deeply about other people and lived her life in service to others. This was demonstrated through her work with paraplegics while in the United States Cadet Nurses Corps during WWII, nursing patients with communicable diseases at Binghamton City Hospital, and her 21 years as an instructor and chair for BCC in the Nursing Program. Florence loved her family, friends, students, and pets very much. She was a role model to many, mentoring numerous students over the years. To those who knew her, she embodied the power of love in how she cared for her family and friends. She was a benevolent and honored matriarch. She lived her life to the fullest to the very end. You should have known her. In keeping with Florence's spirit of giving, those wishing could consider memorial contributions in her name to: The Keuka College Florence Zverblis and Walter Ewanow Scholarship Fund, Keuka Park, NY; The BCC Foundation; or the charity of one's choice . A Memorial Service for Florence will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 p.m.
