Obituary of Patricia G. Maloney

Maloney, Patricia Vestal: Patricia Georgiana O'Shea Maloney passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Vestal, NY. She was 78. Pat Maloney, who raised her family in East Northport on Long Island, is survived by her children, Mary Connelly of Beacon, NY, Kathleen (Philip) Green of Concord. MA, Edward Maloney of Tampa, FL and Richard (Margaret) Maloney of Vestal, NY. She was the adored grandmother of Kathryn, Emily, Erin, Kelly and Clare and loving aunt for more than two dozen nieces and nephews and two special boys, Andrew and John. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Lambert, Sheila McNeill and Geraldine Gillespie. Mrs. Maloney grew up in the Bronx and graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer high school in New York City. She is the daughter of Irish patriots, Denis and Julianna O'Shea, who fought for Ireland's independence from Great Britain. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward P. Maloney (1932-2000), a co-founder of the New York City Police Department Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band and her son-in-law, Michael Connelly. She was a devotee of the band as well as the pipe band named in her husband's honor, the Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band of Binghamton, NY. The Maloney's were married May 11, 1957. She was very proud of her Irish American heritage. She was a member and daily Communicant at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal and member of Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 2. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Holy Rosary. Hawthorne. NY on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Patricia may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O.
